TYT also promotes it as “Dual band mini mobile radio for QUAD and Motorcycle”. For all we know, of course, QYT is most likely a brand of TYT.Īccording to the spec sheet, it does support more memory channels (200 as opposed to 128), it is waterproof (rated IP67) and it also has a remote kill/stun function. It certainly looks like an upgrade to the QYT KT-8900 or the KT-8900R which seem to have created a category on its own. It looks really nice, with a color display which is something the manufacturers from China have started getting us used to the last couple of years. There is no indication on the spec sheet for the output on low power, or even if there actually *is* a low power setting.

It’s an analogue dual band FM transceiver with an output power of 25W on 2m and 20W on 70cm. I'll keep trying to see if I can get it functioning with CHIRP, but not before saving the template with the TYT software so I don't lose all the frequencies I already entered manually. This just made its appearance online. It's overall an excellent radio just like the KG-UV980P which is not supported by CHIRP.

This I keep trying, but have been unsuccessful yet. I tried to cut and paste the frequency information between both programs (CHIRP and TYT software), but the TYT software would not let me paste more than one block at a time. CHIRP list the 9800, but not the 9800 plus.

I know you mentioned having a TYT-TH9800 I wonder if there's a small delta in the template between the TYT-TH9800 and the TYT-TH9800 plus. Still got the ERR msg and had to reset the radio. No other changes, then wrote the information to the radio that I had downloaded from the radio with only the addition of the frequency. I went as far as downloading the original settings from the TYT=TH9800 plus with CHIRP and just adding one frequency (2meter). I selected TYT-TH9800 from CHIRP (20210212) several times and it resulted me into having to reset the radio to factory settings.
